How to Survive as An Adjunct Instructor

If you’re like me, you had a dream of changing the world. You had a dream of having a meaningful career by impacting the lives of students.

You’re dream probably didn’t include living a life of poverty; a life where you struggle to make a living.

I’ve been teaching various college courses, primarily in the humanities, for over 7 years now. To be honest, I’m probably doing better than most. But, sometimes it’s hard to be satisfied or pleased with where I am considering other people in the world who work less hours, didn’t go through a rigorous academic path to attain an advanced degree (like we did), but yet make a better living.

I feel your pain.

But, I firmly believe we don’t have to struggle. With some motivation and out of the box thinking, I think adjunct instructors, and anyone else interested in an unconventional career path, can make a living and thrive.

My goal for this website is for it to be a place where I can share where I’ve been, where am I, and how I plan to get to where I want to go with my career and financial status.

Specifically, here is what I expect from myself with this website:

  1. My financial goals and strategies on how to achieve them.
  2. Ideas on how to raise our income and increase our net worth.
  3. Sharing my struggles and accomplishments with you so that we can both learn from my experiences.
  4. Progress updates on my financial situation to keep both of us motivated.
